My week in books #41

(Below are the books that I reviewed and/or read this week - click on the covers to access the links.)

Firstly, I'm linking back to The sunday post held by Kim, The Caffeinated Reviewer. Click on the logo above to access her post and discover plenty of great bloggers who are dying to share their book reviews with you !

Secondly, there is going to be a new feature on this blog, a long haul feature : my Brontë mania ! I introduced it here and everything will be recorded on a single page, here.
I'm currently working on it, but here's the main idea : it seems to me I have loved the Brontës all my life, so I want to learn everything about them. Along the years, I have already read their juvenilia, novels (except Emma, Charlotte's unfinished novel) and their poetry, a few biographies here and there, but I want to pick it all back up from the start. This page will contain book reviews of course, but also TV and film adaptation reviews, internet links, a link to a Youtube channel I've created especially for this purpose. So, in fact, this page will always be under construction because I've noted enough references to study to last me a lifetime !

  2. Your focus on the Bronte family must be taking you into some fascinating areas... It always struck me it was a solid tragedy that such a gifted family with so much to offer were born at a time when the disease that ripped through them all had no cure. In the meantime, I hope you're enjoying your books!

    1. It was a gifted family indeed, and the water supplies at Haworth were really dreadful. I am enjoying them, thanks :)

  6. I haven’t read much of the Bronte’s work, I think your idea is great, I’ll stop by YouTube once it’s up and running!

    1. It's funny how re-reading them years apart, you find out new things in them - that proves they truly are great books :)

    1. Thanks - I did something a bit similar recently with Jane Austen and have some more authors to add variety, such as Daphne du Maurier, Agatha Christie, Elizabeth Gaskell... There are so many interesting women writers :)

  13. The only Bronte I've read is Wuthering Heights, which was unsual, but very interesting. Have fun putting all that together, and stay safe!

    1. Wuthering heights is not to everybody's liking, it's violent, passionate and the characters are unlikeable. A bit wild ! Jane Eyre and Anne's novels are different, but with strong women - something I love.

  14. I think I have only read one Bronte book and that was Wuthering Heights and that was so long ago that I think I should probably give it a reread. It would be a good book to add to my Classics Club list, I think.

    1. Wuthering heights is wild and passionate, it's one of my favourite novels and my sister's favourite. Not everybody enjoys it though, I'd be happy to hear what you think of it :)
