Hi, I'm linking back to The sunday post held by Kim, The Caffeinated Reviewer. Click on the link to access her post and discover plenty
of great bloggers who are dying to share their book reviews, and other things, with you !
The week was very quiet, I worked from home and no file was lost this time (phew), the decorations haven't been attacked by our youngest cat (phew again). It was my birthday Wednesday and it was very quiet too due to the lockdown and all that. My boyfriend and I are still watching Supernatural (on to season 8 now), I finished season 4 of Frasier and I'm watching a lot of Hercule Poirot with David Suchet. So, nothing special.
I joined this challenge :
Samuel Butler : The way of all flesh, review of a Victorian novel
book #1 in the Murderbot diaries series
a SF novella that is a joy to read !
review of a sweet short Christmas story by an author I love
and having a hard time putting it down
Continuing my Agatha Christie readalong and part of a Goodreads readalong too : Hercule Poirot's Christmas
I started listening to it narrated by Hugh Fraser before I finally received my copy
such fun !
it was a kindle freebie when I grabbed it earlier this week
ON YOUTUBE :
Last week, I showed you Christmas in the East of France, this time the video is about the Christmas market of Provins, in Champagne. It's a medieval small town not far from where I live and we often go there (well, before lockdown) because it's beautiful. And there is a bookshop in a cave specialised in the Middle-Ages :
That Christmas market that took place in 2019 (no masks) :
I also went visiting this quaint little cottage in Norfolk on YT :
For a different atmosphere, this newly built robot in Japan is impressive :
ON THE BLOGOSPHERE :
Happy birthday, Iza! Hope you had a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a bookshop in a cave. I shall pin it on Pinterest for the future.
I hope to get my sister-in-law a Christmas Agatha Christie or two.
Have a great week!
Thanks Deb :) When I go back to Provins, I'll try to bring back some pictures.
DeleteHappy Birthday!!! I hope you had the bestest day ever!!!
ReplyDeleteOur youngest kitten hasn't knocked the tree over so that is a total plus lol. I am glad your decorations are surviving also.
Have a great week, Iza! Happy Reading!
Thanks Michelle, happy reading too !
DeleteYour books look tempting. I have never read The Loving Spirit, so it needs to go on my list. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI finished it and it was so great !!! Thanks Laurel-Rain, you're welcome :)
DeleteHappy Birthday! The video is beautiful. I’ve been to Paris, a few villages just outside of Paris, and to Western France (Cherbourg) and loved them all. I guess next, when traveling is ok, I can explore Eastern France ❤️ Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tessa :) I bet you'll love the East of France, so picturesque (and good wines ^^)
DeleteI will be reading Hercule Poirot's Christmas this week as well. I can't believe that I have not watched even an episode of Frasier yet, mayeb 2021 will change that.
ReplyDeleteFrasier is so much fun ! I've already watched the whole series, but I never mind rewatching it because it's so mood-lifting :)
DeleteWow that Robot is massive, sort of reminds me of king kong! And its great that your going out and seeing new things. Great to keep your spirits up.
ReplyDeleteMassive yes, and soon open to visits, I hope we'll get new videos :)
DeleteWhy don't I know The Loving Spirit by Daphne du Maurier??!! I can believe that you can't put it down. I love all her books! We've just watched Rebecca and it was sooo good.
ReplyDeleteHercule Poirot's Christmas was a good one. Hope you enjoy it.
Glad your tree is still standing and no decorations have been harmed. Yet. Neither in my house and it's also a phew from my side!! I do hope we will lucky this Christmas!
Have a good week and stay safe.
Lots of love,
Elza Reads
Thanks Elza - and The loving spirit was absolutely great, I loved every second of it, review coming up tomorrow :)
DeleteDavid Suchet is my favorite Poirot! He really nails the character. I've seen that he narrates a few of the books now, too.
ReplyDeleteThat book cave is so beautiful! I've been to a few places in France but not Champagne yet. Maybe sometime when the pandemic is under control. :)
He's my favourite Poirot too, the way he walks, the way he talks, the mannerisms, he's excellent. Hugh Fraser is a very good narrator too :)
DeleteHappy Birthday 🥳
ReplyDeleteI read a book just the other week that was set in the Champagne area, and among the cellars shown in your photo where the bookshop now is.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae :) I'll have to take a look at that book !
DeleteHappy Birthday! I hope you still had a fun day even if it was quiet ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind on Supernatural.. I don't even remember how far I've come to be honest. I hope to be able to finish watching it someday.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thanks Maureen :) I'm on season 8 because I stopped watching it at some point but don't remember where exactly, lol !
DeleteHappy Birthday to you! Someday I want to watch Supernatural. It looks good. I loved Frasier. Hope you have a great week and enjoy your books.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne :) Frasier is a hoot, I love them all. Supernatural is a bit more depressing and... gory !
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday! And that Gundam Robot is so impressive! I hope you have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maura :) And yes, that robot is not built in half-measures, it's so huge !
DeleteHappy belated birthday! I love the Agatha Christie books on PBS, especially the Miss Marple ones.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thank you, Northwoman :) Oh yes, I love Hercule Poirot but have a fondness for Miss Marple !
DeleteHappy Birthday! It looks like you've had a very busy week. There have also been a couple of films made of The Loving Spirit which are worth watching.
ReplyDeleteThanks Katrina ! Oh yes ? I didn't know about the films, I'll start looking for them, great news :)
DeleteHappy birthday! And yay for Murderbot! I love that series. I'm super curious about Hercule Poirot's Christmas, I want to read some Christie. And thanks for sharing the medieval market vid- i love those. And that cottage- primo! I love how cozy it is inside, and the river at the end- can I go there???
ReplyDeleteThe Gundam robot is so cool too. :)
Thanks Greg :) I want the cottage too (and the dogs), but was very disappointed when the market was cancelled this year, even if I understand why, of course. Better luck next year - fingers crossed ^^
DeleteHappy Birthday to you! And I hope you have a wonderful 2021!
ReplyDeleteI'm still reading through my Agatha Christie Project and boy, it's fun!
Ah, the video made me remember the time I was in Aix-en-Provence and the Christmas markets there. I miss it so much!
You're lucky you get through so many books! I'm going to make a list for myself for next year to keep me on track. I hope it works!
Thanks Cleo ! I've never seen a Provence Christmas market, I'll have to take a look. Provence is way too hot for me in summer, but in winter it's a different story. Have fun with your Agatha Christie books, I can relate !

ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! That little cottage is divine. Wouldn't it be wonderful to go hide away there and only return when all of this is over? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Tanya and yes, yes, yes, I would love to go there - and maybe never return lol ;)
DeleteHappy belated Birthday! I am glad you didn't lose a file and your cat is refrained from attacking you last week. :-) I really like Supernatural. I still need to watch the final season.
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet tried anything by Daphne du Maurier. Perhaps she should be on my must read list for this coming year. I hope you are enjoying your reading.
Have a great week!
I am so hit and miss with challenges, but this next year I think I will go all out. I've been in the mood to read historical fiction, so that's definitely one I am considering joining.
I heard the final season of Supernatural is disappointing, so I'm enjoying the ride until I get there. Oh yes, yes, discover Daphne's novel, Wendy, she's such a stunning writer ! If you join the challenge, I'll be happy to see your list and read your reviews. Thank you Wendy :)
DeleteHappy belated birthday! I love du Maurier's books but I haven't read The Loving Spirit. I'll have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Thanks Jen ! I love Daphne du Maurier's novels and am happy to re-read some and discover all the others :)
DeleteHappy belated birthday! The Christmas market looks interesting to go to. I hope you enjoy your books. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you ! I miss that Christmas market, but it's been cancelled for this year only, hopefully :)
DeleteYou're in France! I'm in Quebec, Canada and I work in the French sector, so it's my second language. I love the look of the bookshop in a cave. And that Norfolk cottage is so quaint. I would love to spend a vacation there. Enjoy your reading week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI love Québec, I have a friend who lives in Montréal :) I would dearly love to visit that cottage too, and the surrounding area !
DeleteHappy belated birthday! It sounds like it was a nice quiet week. I keep seeing the Martha Wells book pop up. I'm thinking I need to give it a shot. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephanie ! I'd never heard about Martha Wells, but now I'm happily waiting to read the next Murderbot novel :) Have a great week too !
