The Classics Club has issued the announcement of the 28th Classics spin, here it is :
"At your blog, before next Sunday 17th October, 2021, create a post that lists twenty books of your choice that remain “to be read” on your Classics Club list. This is your Spin List. You have to read one of these twenty books by the end of the spin period.
On Sunday 17th, October, we’ll post a number from 1 through 20. The challenge is to read whatever book falls under that number on your Spin List by the 12th December, 2021. That’s an eight week reading window for this spin. You may like to stack your list with books that you know are do-able for you within that time frame."
So here is my list :
1 - Honoré de Balzac : Eugénie Grandet
2 - J.R.R. Tolkien : The Silmarillion
3 - Ray Bradbury : Dandelion wine
4 - Pearl Buck : East wind, west wind
5 - Albert Camus : Caligula
6 - Agatha Christie : Death on the Nile
7 - Patricia Wentworth : Outrageous fortune

I am not a classics reader, but like seeing this process play out on people's blogs. I look forward to seeing what you all read based on a random spin.
ReplyDeleteSome of those classics I feel I'll love (and some I've already read years ago), but others are a complete discovery (Dorothy Richardson, for example). This spin game is fun :)
DeleteI have Great Expectations on my list too! Personally I would choose a Goudge book though. I've only read a couple of hers but have loved them and plan to read more. In any case, I hope you have a wonderful spin!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't remember I had it on my list when I saw yours yesterday, lol ! Thanks Cleo, I do hope I'll get to read the Goudge novels too :)
DeleteI also have the woman in white and madame Bovary on my classics club list. There are also so new to me authors on your list, so I'm curious to read your reviews about these books. Good luck with the spin!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annelies, I'm at the same time eager to read those I know I'll love, but so curious about the others too ^^
DeleteFun to see awesome French classics! Good luck
ReplyDeleteHere is my list https://wordsandpeace.com/2021/10/13/the-classics-club-the-classics-spin-28/
Thanks Emma, I'm off to see your list :)
DeleteI tried to leave a com on your blog, but this computer (lunch break at work !) doesn't seem to let me :(
DeleteAh, it finally worked *eye roll*
DeleteI love this classics club spin challenge. Can't wait to see which one you end up reading and what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun game :)
DeleteI do hope your get Goudge! Love her writing. The Woman in White is a fun read too. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI watched The woman in white (old tv adaptation) last year :) I would love to read Elizabeth Goudge after so many years
DeleteI just read Le lion this year, and, wow, so I'm rooting for it.
ReplyDeleteMy sister urged me to read it too :)
DeleteOne of the most interesting lists to me since I've only read My Cousin Rachel and most of Madame Bovary. Here is my list: https://hopewellslibraryoflife.wordpress.com/2021/10/14/classics-club-spin-28-list/
ReplyDeleteI read Mme Bovary recently and didn't finish it, I have to give her another chance :)
DeleteOooh, I love Patricia Wentworth and that's not one people have their list usually.
ReplyDeletei read many of her novels years ago, I thought I would give her another try after one of my readers praised her at the library :)
DeleteThey all look good! Enjoy your spin choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin :D
DeleteI really enjoyed My Cousin Rachel so I hope you get that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party, but I see you spun Madame Bovary! Good luck!
