My week in books (not only) #50 - The Sunday Post

Hello, I'm linking back to The sunday post held by Kim, The Caffeinated Reviewer. Click on the link to access her post and discover plenty of great bloggers who are dying to share their book reviews, and other things, with you !

This week, I kept watching Supernatural with my companion (season 10), Hercule Poirot with David Suchet (season 9), I began watching the Korean drama Goblin with my eldest daughter who's learning korean. It's a nice story (with subtitles, fortunately) and the pictures are absolutely beautiful - the setting, the lights, the photography : splendid ! I learned that my companion, who turned 46 this year, would be respectfully considered a grand-pa (Hal Abeoji) in Korea, which made my daughter and I laugh a lot, but not him !

I also rewatched Star Trek : First contact, watched StarTrek Nemesis and Stargate Continuum (this one wasn't good) and rewatched J.J. Abram's Star Trek. Some people love watching Christmas films at Christmas, I love watching SF all year long ! I watched The man who invented Christmas, however, and had a good time. I almost forgot to watch The Bridgertons - it was weird, the music, the costumes with flashy colours, but the duke was hot !

On the practical side, I did a lot of much-needed springcleaning and started organizing my 2021 TBR list. Meanwhile, i didn't read much even if I finished The adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Christmas at Thompson Hall. I prepared a few things for the blog.

On the weather side, it's perfectly wintery here : rain, grey skies, strong wind. Our eldest cat just asked for the door, I had to grab the handle with two hands to keep said door from banging with the wind, and Aelig didn't even reach it that she turned back in the direction of my daughter's comfy bed. So, a perfect time to remain home under a cover with a good book and a warm cup ! Stay safe, take care, I wish you all to spend happy holidays.

  1. I hope you had a very nice Christmas, Iza! We had a quiet, peaceful time with just the family and the dogs. It was so nice - I think we all needed a real break.
Have a wonderful last week of 2020! Hopefully, 2021 will be gentle with us all :)

  2. Hi IzaBzh! David Suchet is the best Poirot ever! I love him as Poirot. His moustaches is not exactly as it is described in the books, but still - he captures Poirot perfectly.

Glad you had a good Christmas and that you some time for reading. I plan on not doing very much else but reading this upcoming week.

Have a good one and if we don't talk again before the weekend - happy new year!

PS: I've done no planning or goalsetting for 2021 yet. Hopefully somewhere this week...

    1. David Suchet is so great, he did such a good job portraying him, even his accent is impeccable. I wish I can spend more time reading next week, but with my daughters home, maybe I won't be able to, we'll see. I'll be preparing my 2021 book planner ^^ Thanks Mareli, happy new year to you too :)

  3. Wow. Your daughter is learning Korean. Wonderful. I'm learning French. Maybe one day Korean for me.

We are Trekkies here from way back. We got our granddog a Star Trek uniform.

Maybe I need to make a 2021 list. That might help keep me organized. I did make a list of all my challenges, and that has helped.

Victorian City sounds like it will be a good accompaniment for my fall read of David Copperfield.

    1. My other daughter is starting to learn Japanese on her own, we love languages here :) I had to make a challenge recap because there are so many books I have to read that it was necessary to keep a certain order. Yay, Dickens ;)

  6. You have a lot of great books on your list. Sherlock Holmes stories and Wilkie Collins make great winter reading. Plus I Capture the Castle is a delight! I wonder how the Charlotte P&P retelling will be ... I always get sucked into those but am usually disappointed.

    1. I started I capture the castle this morning, I love it so far. I'm wary of retellings, I have been disappointed too, but when I hear great reviews, I usually give in and try. Who knows, one day, I'll find one I like :)
